PositionOR Surgical System

Surgical Concept Designs

September 14th, 2009
Today’s healthcare industry has an urgent need for reducing costs while still maintaining the highest caliber of care and service. One innovative medical start-up that has taken this challenge head on is Surgical Concept Designs. The company’s latest product, PositionOR®, was launched in early 2009, and since its introduction to the market, this Instrument Positioning System has become the talk of hospitals and surgeons across the country.
PositionOR is a unique operating room device that serves as an extra set of “hands” in the surgical field. Weighing less than 12 pounds, it is designed for quick setup and break-down, attaching to the OR table in just seconds. Its design mimics the motion of a human arm, articulating about wrist, elbow, and shoulder joints. It operates with single-handed control from the surgeon. The unit provides reliable and steadfast instrument positioning, even during the longest surgical procedures, while taking up less space than a human assistant. Additionally, the surgeon can opt for 2, 3, or even 4 arms to be used simultaneously. The PositionOR never needs a break, let alone a vacation, health benefits, or a raise. The system incorporates its own disposable, sterile drape, a low cost alternative to cleaning and autoclaving.
Tri-Power Design played a major role in the development of this revolutionary medical device, working closely with Surgical Concept Designs. From the very early stages of development straight thru production, Tri-Power’s efforts included the mechanical and electronics design, engineering, testing, and prototyping. Tri-Power Design Engineers are co inventors on several novel elements of the PositionOR’s design which are patented or patent pending.
